Endocrinopathies (hormone problems) are very common in pets and our highly skilled veterinarians are well trained in the clinical signs and symptoms of the various hormone problems of pets. We can do blood tests on site to check for the common hormone abnormalities in pets such as hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism and hyperadrenocorticism.

Ultrasound image showing a cross section of the caudal pole of the adrenal gland. Anything above 6mm is considered enlarged. When tested using an ACTH stimulation test, this dog had hyperadrenocorticism. We use either a low dose dexamethasone suppression test or an ACTH stimulation test depending on the case to test for Cushing's syndrome (hyperadrenocorticism.

We can also do thyroid screening on site using our IDEXX laboratory.

More specific hormone testing such as insulin, progesterone, testosterone and Anti-Müllerian hormone can also be arranged at Treendale Pet Medical.
