After hours veterinary care
Lacee was just a few months old when tragedy struck. She was an excitable fluffy fuzzball out on one of her first walks after she was vaccinated.
The world was an exciting place. She raced here and she raced there and she got tangled up in her lead and almost tripped her mum and was accidentally trodden on. The poor little sole let out a yelp and off she went to Treendale Pet Medical.
Lacee was pretty sore when we palpated her leg just below the stifle (her knee). Dr Rob suggested radiographs which showed her poor little bones were broken.
She had a comminuted proximal tibial fracture associated with the growth plate. This means her shin bone was broken right at the top into several pieces around where the bone grows from. This was a tricky one.
Dr Rob decided to cross pin the fracture with two small pins from either side and a tension band that pulls all the bits together. This worked a treat and Lacee went on to heal perfectly.
She has healed well and has no lameness or growth problems. A perfect job.
