The Tragedy

Molly presented with open mouthed breathing as she gasped for air. Her belly was swollen and her lungs were full of fluid. Her heart was starting to fail and she was in the last few hours of her life.

Molly’s loving mum was devastated. She didn’t want this to be Molly’s last day. Molly’s heart was failing and fluid was building up in her lungs causing pulmonary oedema which turns to blood tinged froth in the airways with the desperate gasping for air.

The Prognosis

Dr Rob was pretty worried about Molly but he’s seen what Vetmedin can do. Miracles can happen when Vetmedin is used. When your heart is failing, only the best will do. Vetmedin is what leading veterinarians reach for when they want to make a real difference to their patients chances of survival. Molly had a grade five heart murmur and pulmonary oedema on thoracic auscultation.

We ran full bloods to rule out some other differentials. Molly had some chest X-rays to rule out cancer and other causes of severe dyspnoea. The chest X-rays confirmed cardiomegaly and pulmonary oedema. Molly would spend the next six hours in an oxygen tent after we started treating her with diuretics and the wonder drug Vetmedin.

The Miracle

After just a few hours, Molly was no longer fighting for her life and as a few more hours passed she began to breathe more easily. The importance of an accurate diagnosis and appropriate therapy cannot be underestimated if you want good results.

Treendale Pet Medical is open longer than anyone else in Bunbury and by 8pm tonight little Molly was a skinny minnie again and yapping away and wagging her little tail like she was a puppy again.

We thought this was worthy of a Pet Survivor with thanks to Vetmedin the miracle drug. Don’t settle for cheap imitations. If your dog has a heart problem and you want them to live longer and have a better quality of life then you need to ask for Vetmedin. Dr Rob has seen this drug work miracles time and time again. Vetmedin is often used in combination with other therapies for various reasons but Dr Rob was a veterinarian long before Vetmedin was available for pets.

In the old days we often could not save pets that presented in congestive heart failure as bad as Molly was today. Vetmedin changed the game and changed the outcome for millions of dogs’ world wide. Super nurse Leticia, super nurse Paige and super nurse Kayla were awesome in caring for Molly and she’s pictured going home with her very happy mum. Little Molly will have to stay on Vetmedin but tonight she’s BACK FROM THE BRINK!
