How do I find a good local vet?

Consider contacting your regional or city parks and recreation department when looking for a local vet. They may be able to refer you to an organisation that specialises in animal care.

What do I need to know before going to the vet?

Did your dog recently develop a fever, poor appetite, sleeping more than usual, or lethargy? If so, take them to the vet immediately for a check-up. Also, ask about any other symptoms your pet may be experiencing, as they could signal something more serious such as an infection.

What are the challenges of having a veterinary clinic?

The challenges of having a veterinary clinic can vary from location to location, including developing a loyal client base.

How do I find a good local vet?

Are you wondering how to find a good vet in your area? Many resources are available online and through animal advocacy organisations like The Humane Society of the Australia. Try searching for “veterinarian near me” or “local veterinarian” on Google, Yelp, or Yahoo!, or contact your local animal control agency. Additionally, you can contact pet insurance companies to ask if they have any recommended vets in their network.

Animal-friendly colours

Cats, dogs and many other animals see ultraviolet light so, for them, white appears like a glowing neon violet. Sounds terrifying doesn’t it?
We’ve decorated our spaces using calming shades of cream and other fear-free colours instead.

Gentle animal handling

Our team is trained in gentle animal handling to help your pet feel safe. We know things like needles can be scary, so we’re skilled at distracting animals before an injection.
We make sure they never see a needle.

Cat and dog pheromones

These are circulated in the dedicated cat and dog treatment and recovery areas to remind your furry friends of happy times.

Soothing tunes

Selected by animal behaviourists who advise that certain types of music create a soothing atmosphere for animals.

A vision for vet care done differently

When Dr Rob Hill started his career in 1996, it was common for vets to be all-rounders. He treated a variety of animals, injuries and health conditions. And he gained experience in veterinary practices across Australia and around the world.

Dr Rob has been treating pets in the Bunbury region since 2002, when he took over Australind Veterinary Hospital. Over the years, his vision for a progressive, pet-centred, bespoke veterinary hospital began to take shape.

After growing the Australind practice to bursting point with the help of our award-winning team, he and his wife Lisa opened the doors to Brunswick Pet Medical Veterinary Hospital in 2017.
